The philosophy of Château Guiraud is guided by the constant questioning of nature and the need to let nature do its work, so that the vines can flourish under the passionate eye of man. Château Guiraud is the first of the 87 classified growths in 1855 to be certified in Organic Agriculture.
The 1855 classification, known to all wine lovers, was published on 18 April 1855, at the request of the Emperor Napoleon III, in view of the Universal Exhibition in Paris. Château Guiraud thus became one of the most famous First Growths classified in 1855 in the world. The recognition of the quality of the terroir and the reputation of each classified wine is undeniable, particularly for the Sauternes appellation which has the largest number of classified properties. The Classification was therefore the culmination of a market reality and an evolution that had been going on for over two centuries.
