The Champagne vineyards are located 150 kilometres from Paris. Today, the Champagne vineyards cover just over 34,000 hectares, with 319 villages spread over 4 production zones: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, the Côte des Blancs and the Côte des Bar. From the Marne Valley to the Montagne de Reims, the kingdom of the Pinot Noir, a vigorous and generous grape variety, the Champagne region is packed with villages and towns renowned for their sparkling wines.

 

The hillsides, houses and cellars of Champagne were included on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2015. The listing of the hillsides, houses and cellars of Champagne as a World Heritage Site recognises all the land, climate, landscapes, practices, know-how and everything that goes into making champagne unique to the Champagne region. Champagne, a French region world-famous for its iconic sparkling wine, fascinates wine lovers the world over. We're delighted to announce our arrival in Champagne with 5 new Bulles Vertes. The region also boasts a number of farm producers who combine wine discoveries with agriculture. To get to Champagne, we advise you to arrive in Épernay by train. It's only an hour and 15 minutes by train from Paris.

ÉPERNAY TOURIST OFFICE

Just 5 minutes from Épernay station, you'll find our first Bulle Verte (Green Bubble), to be explored on foot or by bike! The Épernay Tourist Office, capital of the Champagne region, is delighted to help you discover the treasures of this rich wine-growing town on your own. The route through the city of Champagne will take you along the magnificent and famous Avenue de Champagne, where you'll discover the city's sober and elegant architecture. This avenue has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. You'll also be able to see some of the greatest champagne houses, such as Moët & Chandon and Pierret-Jouet, before leaving the city centre to take in the breathtaking views over the Champagne vineyards.

Champagne PIOT SEVILLANO

Our second Bulle Verte in Champagne is at Maison Piot-Sévillano, in the Marne valley. A family estate for 10 generations, the independent House produces 16 champagnes and 3 Coteaux Champenois. 

Christine and Vincent, co-owners of the Piot Sevillano estate, are independent winegrowers. Their ambition is to produce rare, atypical champagnes with character, with respect for the environment and all with passion, dynamism and generosity. The estate has obtained HVE (high environmental value) certification and shares its values of environmental protection by implementing a number of actions on their estate. 

On this Bulle Verte walking tour through the heart of the vineyards, the Piot Sevillano Champagne House will introduce you to the history of this family and its winemaking traditions. You can also enjoy a tasting of their champagnes on their terrace, with a panoramic view over the Champagne vineyards !

  • LETS GET A WALKING COUNTRY ESCAPE

Take a walk through the heart of the Champagnes vineyards. There's a choice of two circuits, a 4km Champêtre loop and a 5km Audacieuse loop. As you climb to the top, you'll get a breathtaking view of the region and its landscapes! Using the points of interest and the WebApp, they'll tell you all about their current wine-growing practices and the secrets they use to produce these Champagnes with character, flavour and elegance!  Take your time to discover this terroir, before tasting their champagnes to round off your experience at the estate in style.

  • LETS GET A GOURMET PICNIC

After your walk, come and enjoy a gourmet picnic (starter, main course, dessert) in their reception cellar or on their panoramic terrace! Each course is paired with a specific champagne (3 courses, 3 champagnes).

LA MAISON POUGEOISE

Situated in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, just a few kilometres from Épernay and Reims, La Maison Pougeoise is an ideal place to get away from it all, with its Charles Pougeoise Champagne House, Best Western hotel, Le Relais du Vigneron and its Terre de Craie restaurant, as well as their Les 27 paniers shop, where you can discover the local gastronomy.

There are plenty of activities on offer to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Relax in the Vinesime spa and discover the secrets of the Charles Pougeoise Champagne House on foot. Discover the Terre de Craie restaurant and its Vertusian cuisine based on fresh, local and seasonal produce. And don't forget the Balthazar bar, a real Champagne living space.

Set off on a hike to discover the Champagne vineyards, in the heart of the Blancs-Coteaux region, and let yourself be tempted by a tasting of champagnes from the Charles Pougeoise Champagne House.

- There's a choice of 5km walks for a short loop and 11km walks for a longer loop - from €15/person.

- By bike, you can choose between a 17km route or a 30km route for the more adventurous - from €25/person.

Audios, texts and photos will punctuate the ride, teaching you more about champagne production, gastronomy, the family history and the local heritage. You can also combine the Bulle Verte tour with a food and champagne pairing or a seasonal gourmet picnic.

AUBERGE SAINT FERGEUX

Heading south of Épernay for our fourth Bulle Verte: the Auberge Saint-Fergeux is our first Bulle Verte eco-resort in agritourism. Located in the heart of the Marne, the Auberge Saint Fergeux has been run by a family of foie gras producers, breeders, processors and restaurateurs for 27 years. Just 20 minutes from Epernay and 1 hour from Reims, you can escape to this authentic farm.

Their product Rillettes de canard au Foie Gras was awarded the Bronze Medal at the Concours Général Agricole Paris 2019 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, while the same product won the Silver Medal in 2016 and 2013.

For some years now, the Auberge has been offering rooms so that you can visit the Côte des Blancs region. Here, you can go electric biking to discover the Champagne countryside.

  • ELECTRIC BIKE RIDE FOR AN HALF DAY

This cycling itinerary offers breathtaking views of the Côte de Blancs and its unique landscapes. There is a choice of 2 itineraries of 16km and 17km, during which you will meet this family, who have been producing foie gras for 27 years at the Auberge Saint-Fergeux.
