About
Nestling at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Domaine des Bernardins is a wine estate steeped in history. A former monastic vineyard, it became a family estate in the early 19th century. Today, Romain Hall, representing the 6ᵉ generation, passionately perpetuates this unique heritage.
Covering 25 hectares, the estate carefully cultivates its vines, including 15 hectares dedicated to Muscat à petits grains, the grape variety emblematic of Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise, an exceptional natural sweet wine. The Castaud family played a key role in the recognition of this appellation, which was classified as an AOC in 1945. The remaining 10 hectares are devoted to the red grape varieties of the Beaumes-de-Venise AOC, producing some remarkable wines.
Committed to respectful viticulture, the estate, which is undergoing organic conversion, preserves its terroir and biodiversity, using natural fertilisers, planting Mediterranean trees and installing nest boxes to encourage local wildlife. This authentic approach, combined with know-how handed down over two centuries, produces wines with an inimitable character, to be enjoyed at the estate in an enchanting natural setting.
